No SARPAM workshop (yet)

UNDP held a workshop in 2009.  The 1987 Act is still under review with the intention of its revision. SARPAM has not (yet) been able to assist the country with a workshop on TRIPS and Access to Medicines.

The 2012 Musungu report mentions that the Patent Act does not allow parallel import (National exhaustion only, s.38 (2)), does not have a Bolar clause and only offers a compulsory license on the grounds of non-working or in matters of vital importance.

The country can increase its future access to medicines by maximizing these TRIPS flexibilities in its national Patent Act.
