No SARPAM workshop (yet)

SARPAM has not (yet) been able to assist the country with a workshop on TRIPS and Access to Medicines.

The 2012 Musungu report mentions that the 2012 Industrial Property Act does allow parallel import (International exhaustion (S. 43(1)(a)), has a Bolar clause (S.43 (2))  and offers a compulsory license on the grounds of non-working after 3 years. However, this Act has not yet been put into operation as per January 2016.

A national IP Policy validation workshop was organized by WIPO on 13 April 2016. The IP policy audit report is available on the Reports page.

The country has nearly all TRIPS flexibilities enabled in its national Patent Act.
